KATE WISE
Workshop 1 hour
Various times - Saturday 16 October 2021
Various times - Sunday 17 October 2021

Create large scale charcoal pieces while dancing and mark making to the inspiration of music!
About the Workshop
Movement and Mark Making with Music

This workshop is based on the incredible kinetic and performance drawing of Heather Hansen, who uses both hands and physical movement to create beautiful, flowing, large-scale, abstract drawings.
Kate's workshop will add the element of music, allowing you to interpret what you are hearing into your drawings.

You will warm up with a couple of guided drawings and then you will be let loose with your paper, charcoal and pastel, free to explore your own style and make your mark.
This will be a fun, action packed hour that we know will leave you exhilarated and inspired!
You will create up to 4 large drawings to take home. This will be part performance and part art workshop so you are encouraged to wear black clothes if possible, and be prepared to get messy!
Each participant will be offered the opportunity to have their photo taken with their favourite drawing and these may be posted on social media.
Video recordings will also be taken during the workshop, as the performance is just as important as the results!

Meet the Artist
Kate Wise
Kate's works have been described as calm, feminine and flowing. She enjoys researching and exploring themes and techniques, so her works can range from abstract fluid acrylics which reference her local landscapes, to large botanical works focusing on the beauty and awesome colours of Australian flora. Colour and negative space are always pivotal to the composition of her work.
You can see Kate's paintings in her gallery space in the Block Arcade Ballarat and she opens her home studio in Haddon on the first weekend of each month, as part of the Hidden Gems Artist Studios.
