Chain maille! Once used in a medieval age known to protect the knights of kings from serious injury!

Picture the medieval past! “Knights in shining armour,” the romance, rich nobility – princes, courage and valour.

The beauty of chain maille is its simplicity but it is a lengthy process. Today modern chain maille jewellery takes its inspiration from the medieval.

 

We use alot of open jumprings which are woven tightly together.

​

The end result is an elegant style with flair and suits the refined taste.

​

Join Martine for a 2 hour session and take home your pair of copper earrings at the end. You can then be insprired to make your own bracelet and possibly a necklace to complete the full collection of your handmade wearable art.

Copper is an elemental metal that is a bright reddish-orange in colour. It is a reactive metal, meaning over time, it will darken and gain a patina, sometimes with a greenish hue. Copper can also discolor skin, most commonly when it is worn snugly like a finger ring or tight-fitting bracelet. Copper is a soft metal, which makes it great for wire wrapping. Because of copper's softness, solid copper components may bend easier than copper-plated beads and findings. Unplated copper is usually called raw copper or bare copper.
